News from the Health Centre
As always the New Year brings with it resolutions and good intentions.
We are here to help if you would like advice on giving up smoking, weight management and healthy eating. Contact the Health Centre and we will be pleased to book you an appointment with one of our nurses.
In the coming months we will be sending out letters inviting people aged 40-74 to come along for an appointment with the nurse for an assessment of their coronary vascular disease risk. This is the collective medical term which covers- high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
The appointment will include a blood pressure check, height and weight measurement and a few simple blood tests. The results will enable us to calculate the risk score for each person which we will discuss with you along with some appropriate lifestyle advice. Screening such as this has an important role in maintaining health and preventing problems arising in the future.
If your resolution is to become more involved in the local community, we would like to invite our patients to join the Patient Participation Group or the online forum. The next PPG committee meeting is on Wednesday January 18th at 7pm at the Health Centre and everyone is welcome.
