A11 Balsham junction slip roads – carriageway maintenance

National Highways plan to carry out carriageway maintenance work to the A11 Balsham junction slip roads. This will ensure the Balsham junction continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.

They plan to carry out this work over two nights, starting on Wednesday 26 August 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am only, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, they will need to close the A11 Balsham junction in phases across the two nights, and divert traffic as follows:

A11 southbound Balsham entry slip             A11 southbound Balsham exit slip	Wednesday 26 August	A11 southbound Balsham entry slip: Traffic should take the northbound A11 entry slip. Approach the next junction for The Wilbrahams and take the exit into Mill Road. Take a left and then the next right to complete turning around at the junction and rejoin the A11 southbound, continuing your journey.   A11 southbound Balsham exit slip: Traffic wishing to exit here should continue on the A11 southbound and then take the next exit for Fourwentways Interchange. At the roundabout, take the fourth exit to complete a full turnaround to rejoin the A11 northbound. Continue to the Balsham junction and take the exit.
A11 northbound Balsham entry slip             A11 northbound Balsham exit slip	Thursday 27 August	A11 northbound Balsham entry slip: Traffic should take the A11 southbound entry slip and then take the next exit for Fourwentways Interchange. At the roundabout, take the fourth exit to complete a full turnaround to rejoin the A11 northbound to continue your journey.   A11 northbound Balsham exit slip: Traffic should continue on the A11 northbound. Approach the next junction for The Wilbrahams and take the exit into Mill Road. Take a left and then the next right to complete turning around at the junction and rejoin the A11 southbound. Reapproach Balsham junction and take the exit to continue your journey.

 

Please note that there will be no emergency vehicle access through the road during the work.
